Tips to save on fuel and get more MPG.

Gas prices these days are not cheap.  Back when I was a kid growing up I can remember when gas was $.49 a gallon.  Now gasoline is over five dollars a gallon in some places and if you don't have a car that gets good MPG you're in trouble. So here are 10 tips for saving money on gas and getting better gas mileage and your car.
1.  Do not use high acceleration and keep your foot off of the panel whenever possible.
2.  You shouldn't drive your car unless you absolutely have to many times we can take the bus or walk to the store or keep a grocery list so you not going back and forth to the store three times a day you can buy everything all in one shot.
3. Consider mass transit some of you may be older take the train or bus to work.
4. Drive the speed limit.
5. Drive your car like a big old boat like your grandmother would give don't use any heavy braking and try to coast is much as you can.  When taking off don't step on the accelerator to hard.
6.  Tire pressure. Make sure your tire pressure is exactly as that indicated on the side of the tire.  If your tires are under deflated your getting it poor gas mileage.
7. Get rid of extra weight is in the car. Be sure to keep your jacking your spare tire as you might need that but any other extra weight this in the car get rid of it.  Also consider that gas weighs 8 pounds per gallon so if you have 10 extra gallons of gasoline in your car you're carrying around 80 pounds of extra weight that you do not need.
8.  Arrow dynamics.  Aerodynamic.  Your car is going to get much better gas mileage if it has an aerodynamic shape if you're riding around with the trunk open and the windows down odds are you're not the get very good gas mileage so make sure you've got the windows closed.
9.  Idle time.  Try not to keep your car in any situation where it's idling. Whether it be a fast food restaurant or the bank or any other situation where you're standing in line waiting with your car idling.  Trying to predict any situations where you think you're going to be stuck with your car idling for anyway the time.  If you think this is going to happen go ahead and shut the car off you can always restart it – make sure you have a good battery.
10. Consider buying higher octane gasoline. High-octane gasoline burns easier as it's easier to ignite and burns cleaner. If you're running high-octane gas in your car is going to be much more fuel-efficient all-around.
Just as a quick reminder never turn your engine off while you're going down the hill. Most of the newer cars have locking steering wheels and you could find yourself in a much more dangerous situation trying to save fuel with no steering.  So let's all be smart about this, safe about this and reasonable.  Thank you very much for reading this article and if you think it'll help someone you know be sure to bookmark it or copy and paste it and e-mail it to a friend.  Be safe and have a great day!
