Better gas mileage for the holidays

Without doing modifications to your vehicle which can make huge changes in percentage on your mileage you're left with few options for getting better gas mileage.  However, that doesn't meant you cant.  Here are a few ideas for the holidays to help you get better MPG.

  • Don't stash presents in your trunk.  It makes your vehicle heavier so you gas mileage is not as good.
  • Some say purchase fuel in the morning.  It's colder causing the fuel to contract which means you get a little more at the pumps.  Sounds far fetched but true.
  • Purchase a engine block heater dipstick.  You can get a Engine block heater on ebay for about $25 dollars.  They use little electricity and will keep your car engine warm so you will use less fuel getting your car started and warmed up.
  • Try to avoid holiday traffic.  At peak shopping hours it's not much fun anyway to wait in line.  Try to plan your holiday shopping during off peak hours so your not setting in traffic wasting your fuel.
  • Avoid high or quick acceleration.  The roads could be slippery anyway.
Mostly important is that we are all being safe during the holiday season while driving.  Traffic volumes are much higher at this time of the year and we want for you all to arrive to your destination safe.  While it is nice to save fuel and get better gas mileage.  Practice safe driving first!

Happy holidays,
